OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST (Part time position)

 

Glasshouse Country Care is looking to recruit an Occupational Therapist to coordinate the delivery of OT services to older people and younger people with disabilities in their own homes. The role will work across all services including Home Care Packages, Commonwealth Home Support Programme and NDIS.

 

The aim of the role is to promote health and wellbeing enabling people to participate in the everyday occupations of life, such as self-care activities including showering, dressing, preparing food; productive activities such as education, work, volunteering and caring for others; and leisure/social activities, such as being part of a community group, engaging in a hobby, and being part of a friendship group.

 

In performing this role, the Occupational Therapist will draw upon clinical experience in training and assessment and knowledge of contemporary approaches to Occupational Therapy to improve quality of life and independent living.

 

Duties:

  • Occupational Therapy Support to all HCP, CHSP and NDIS clients.

  • Evaluating a patient’s condition and needs.

  • Developing treatment plans to address patients' needs and help them meet specific goals and regain lost skills.

  • Assessing a patient’s home and/or work environment and recommending adaptations to fit the patient’s needs and improve independence.

  • Training patients and their caregivers to use special equipment.

  • Assess and document progress for evaluation, billing, and reporting purposes.

  • Promote safety by following organisational WHS requirements and guidelines.

  • Communicate respectfully with all individuals including service users, representatives, staff, and the community.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement by involvement in staff meetings, planning days, and feedback mechanisms.

  • Participate in education and training opportunities.

 

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A tertiary degree (or equivalent qualification) in Occupational Therapy and current registration or be eligible for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as an Occupational Therapist.

  • Demonstrated ability to comply with the profession’s code of ethics and function in accordance with legislation affecting occupational therapy.

  • Experience in providing assessment, intervention and case management to older people and people with a disability.

  • Excellent communication skills.
